Possums Although Australian possums are generally 'cute little critters', there is nothing cute about them when they enter roof cavities and turn into a serious pest.
The most common species of possum, the 'Brush Tail Possum' is a rabbit sized marsupial which varies in colour from silver grey to black and off white to red/brown below. As the name indicates, it has a bushy tail with a naked area below the tip. Possums often enter roof cavities when their natural nesting sites have been removed, mainly through broken tiles, damaged eaves and displaced ridge capping. (Chimneys are also a favourite sheltering site). Possums often urinate and defecate on ceiling plaster, causing stains and odours, not to mention serious health concerns. They are also very noisy at night, keeping home occupants wide awake with their antics. We, at Central Pest Control, can offer many different services including trapping possums from roof voids, sealing entry points to roof voids, trimming branches away from perimeter of homes and, even hiring of the latest model, strongly built possum trap. We never want to harm the possum. We simply need to remove the possum from the roof cavity for health reasons and night time noise reasons. We can even build and install 'possum boxes' in surrounding trees once the access point to the roof cavity is blocked to stop re entry. |
